The regional economic strategy (RES) review

RES logo The regional economic strategy sets out the East of England's economic objectives and how it can achieve them. The current version was published in December 2004. During the last year, we have been reviewing progress and developing a new strategy for the East of England for 2008-31.

The recent consultation on the draft regional economic strategy for 2008-2031 generated 231 formal responses, 36 per cent more than for the consultation on the existing RES in 2004. We would like to thank all of those who took the time to submit a response, thereby helping to shape the future of the East of England.

The consultation report, detailing the high level feedback by consultation question on the draft strategy and outlining EEDA's response, is now available.

The draft strategy and other consultation documents are available on the documents page.

What happens next?

The strategy is in the process of being redrafted taking on board the feedback received via the consultation and extra analytical and modelling work. The final strategy will be submitted for approval by EERA and the EEDA board in spring 2008, and will then be submitted for ministerial endorsement. We envisage that the strategy will be launched in summer 2008.

More information about the regional economic strategy and the consultation process is available via the links on the left-hand side of this page.

You can find further information about the timetable on the RES review timetable page.
