Enterprise Hubs
Bringing together the region's knowledge-based industries.
Historically, the 'Cambridge cluster' had been the only innovation cluster in the region. For several years, EEDA has invested in the creation of innovation centres and clusters in other parts of the region - what we call 'Enterprise Hubs'.
EEDA continues to invest in these developments to ensure they are managed in an economically sustainable way and, secondly, to network them with other centres of innovation in the region, the rest of the UK and abroad.
A number of physical or virtual Enterprise Hubs have been established across key industry sectors and clusters:
Life sciences and healthcare hubs:
- Babraham Bioscience Technologies (Cambridgeshire)
- Colworth Park (Bedfordshire)
- BioPark (Hertfordshire)
- Health Enterprise East (cross-regional)
- Norwich Research Park Enterprise (Norfolk)
- CardioThoracic BioIncubator (Cambridgeshire)
Energy and environment hubs:
- Centre for Sustainable Engineering (Environment East and Peterborough) for environmental goods and services
- Building Research Establishment (Watford) for innovation in construction and the built environment
- OrbisEnergy (Lowestoft) for offshore renewables (wind, wave and tidal)
Other hubs:
- Hethel Engineering Centre (Norwich) for advanced engineering and manufacturing.
- Hertfordshire Business Incubation Centre (Stevenage)
- St John's Innovation Centre (Cambridge)
- East of England Production Innovation Centre (EPIC) (Norwich)
