Our regional partners

EEDA has partnerships with other regional organisations, such as Government Office for the East of England (GO-East) and the East of England Local GovernmentAssociation (EELGA).

EEDA also works with a number of other partners to ensure that we deliver sustainable economic growth for the region. This page highlights some of these partnerships.

Our sponsoring departments

EEDA and all other regional development agencies (RDAs) are financed through a Single Budget, a fund which pools money from all the contributing Government Departments.

These departments include the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), Communities and Local Government (CLG), Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). Additional funding is provided by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

BERR is the sponsor department of RDA's.

East of England Inward Investment

There are many reasons businesses wish to invest in the region, from the strong research and development base to the international airports and seaports.

In addition to international trade support and attracting new inward investment, EEDA invest has a wider remit including support for international business collaboration, helping our universities' international ambitions, outbound investment and developing our transport gateways.

EEDA invest is England's first truly coordinated international business support service. It serves both businesses seeking advice in trading overseas and foreign-owned companies seeking to invest here. EEDA's support for EEDA invest forms part of its Business Support programme and its commitment to helping the region better exploit the huge potential of global markets and foreign investment.

Sub-regional economic partnerships

Sub-regional economic partnerships (SREPs) bring together public and private sector representatives to agree strategic priorities and co-ordinate activity for sub-regions in the East of England..

The partnerships usually include representation from local authorities, education, the Learning and Skills Council, Job Centre Plus, Business Link, Chambers of Commerce, the voluntary sector and local businesses.

The SREPs help achieve the objectives of the regional economic strategy via the development of sub-regional economic strategies (SRESs) and support the delivery of our priorities, in line with our corporate plan.

We work closely with sub-regional economic partnerships (SREPs) to understand and support activities to tackle area-specific economic issues. The SREPs are:

Local delivery vehicles

Local delivery vehicles (LDVs) are also key partners. LDVs seek to achieve big physical transformations of specific areas. They coordinate investment plans from both the public and the private sectors, and attract new investment through promotion and regeneration of their areas. LDVs in the East of England include:

Urban Development Corporations (UDCs)

Thurrock and Thames Gateway UDC

The Thurrock Thames Gateway UDC covers the local authority area of Thurrock Council and has prepared, with partners, with partners, a borough-wide regeneration framework. As part of the Thames Gateway, Thurrock aims to deliver 18,500 new homes and 26,000 new jobs

Further information can be found on the Thurrock Thames Gateway website.

Renewables East

Renewables East is the renewable energy agency for Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex - the East of England. Their objective is: "to bring the benefits of renewable energy to the East of England".

Arts Council England, East

The vision of the regional economic strategy has creativity at its heart.

Creating places that people want to live and work is not just about housing and work places. It is the cultural infrastructure, heritage and creative offering that truly define a place. Arts Council England East (ACEE) and EEDA are working together to ensure a strong cultural offer remains central to the economic offer of the region through jointly funding projects, as outlined in the joint prospectus.

The prospectus demonstrates the commitment of Arts Council England East and the EEDA to realise the regional vision. It outlines a strategic investment programme to inspire regional ambition, produce new cultural leaders, stimulate places in new ways to transform the social, economic and material conditions of local people and communities.

Local authorities

EEDA works closely and strategically with all local authorities in the region. A full list is available on the direct.gov.uk website.
