Manufacturing Strategy
The East of England manufacturing sector includes over 18,000 businesses, supporting 600,000 jobs and is the second most important contributor to regional wealth.
As manufacturing plays such a crucial role in the regional economy, EEDA puts a considerable amount of resource into supporting the sector. Our two key areas of activity are:
- The Regional Strategic Framework for Manufacturing
- Manufacturing Advisory Service East (MAS East)
Regional Strategic Framework for Manufacturing
"The most considered and focused [we have seen]"
- North West Development Agency
In April 2007, EEDA launched the Regional Strategic Framework for Manufacturing to ensure that the sector continues to flourish in the region.
Recognised as an exemplar by other UK regions – and described by one regional development agency 'as the most considered and focused' that they had seen – the full framework and the executive summary are now available to download.
EEDA response and implementation plan
This document outlines the specific actions that will be taken to achieve the aims of the Framework, where those actions can be influenced by EEDA.
EEDA recognises that some of the actions are better addressed through working with partners to ensure a coordinated implementation of the 11 strategic actions identified within the Framework.
To be successful however, the Framework must feed directly into the implementation plans of all partners looking to support regional manufacturing.
