Better for Business - the regional business support strategy

Better for Business - the regional business support strategy - outlines the priorities for the provision of business support in the East of England

The three objectives of Better for Business are to:

  • raise business productivity and increase employment opportunities for people of all ages
  • prioritise resources, so that public funding provides effective business support which satisfies business needs
  • focus on a few key priorities for maximum benefit to the region.

Better for Business urges business support providers to focus actions on six key priorities for action:

  • enhancing provision with the highest impact on small to medium-sized enterprise growth
  • prioritising businesses with recognised potential for productivity improvement or growth
  • developing a consistent standard of support to start-ups and young businesses across the region
  • expanding the impact of brokerage by strengthening account management
  • simplification of support schemes
  • develop sub-regional and local input into future regional business support plans.

Like the regional economy strategy, Better for Business has been created by consulting with business, business support bodies, delivery partners and other stakeholders and bringing their needs together into a single action plan.

EEDA acts as a catalyst in the region, working with organisations and stakeholders to deliver business support and put the strategic objectives laid out in Better for Business at the heart of their work.
