Employee Engagement - MacLeod Review
16 January 2009
EEDA is joining with the East Midlands Development Agency and Advantage West Midlands to host a consultation on the MacLeod Review of Employment Engagement.
We would like to invite senior decision makers with responsibility for employee engagement and productivity within our regions to join us to advise government. We know that employee engagement is crucial to organisational success and can significantly improve performance.
A review examining how employee commitment and motivation can be nurtured to enhance organisational performance has been commissioned for reporting to the Secretary of State, Lord Mandelson, in April 2009. The MacLeod Review is required to examine how employee engagement levels can be raised, to unlock the full potential of employees hence improving economic performance. Clearly this issue is critical in the current challenging economic climate to enable us to compete and take advantage of the upturn when it comes.
This Review seeks to define effective employee engagement, examine the barriers preventing organisations engaging their employees, and consider non-regulatory solutions that can be offered to help overcome such obstacles. The review is being led by David MacLeod, a renowned expert in this field, working with Nita Clarke from the Involvement and Participation Association.
Regional Development Agencies have been asked by Lord Mandelson and the Department for Business (BERR) to host this consultation event. We are keen to use the opportunities presented by the Review to support organisations in the private, public and third sectors. To this end, we are inviting senior decision makers to a roundtable discussion with a number of leading business organisations, employers and trade unions to have the opportunity to shape and influence the review.
The event will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Leicester on 16 January 2009 commencing 9.30 am and finishing with lunch. Please register your attendance at www.emda.org.uk/consult or by email to communications@emd.org.uk.
Places are limited and will therefore be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you have any queries regarding event registration please call Joanna Hook on 0115 988 8509.
