Publication scheme
An important feature of the Freedom of Information Act is the requirement for each public body to produce a publication scheme setting out what information it will publish as a matter of course.
The Act allows public bodies falling within particular classes to produce model publication schemes - in order to show best practice in openness, EEDA and the other RDAs have adopted a model scheme drawn up under the Act. The purpose of this publication scheme is to set out:
- the classes of information RDAs commit to publish as a matter of course
- how this information will be published
- whether this information is available free of charge or on payment.
Publication does not refer solely to printed material, but includes material posted on the agency's website, one-off printed documents, electronic documents, printed books, brochures, reports and leaflets. Much of the material covered by the scheme is available on our website.
EEDA's publication scheme is divided into the seven sections outlined below, these can be accessed via the links or by the tabs on the left of the page. We will add to and develop our publication scheme as more information becomes available.
EEDA aim to make the material covered by the scheme routinely available on this website unless:
- we do not hold the information
- the information is exempt under one of the Freedom of Information (FOI) exemptions or Environmental Regulations (EIRs) exceptions, or its release is prohibited under another statute
- the information is archived, out of date or otherwise inaccessible
- it would be impractical or resource-intensive to prepare the material for routine release.
All the information provided within the Publication Scheme can also be made available free of charge in hard copy format. Should you wish to request a hard copy please contact Edward Palferman (contact details below).
