BERR state aid team are delivering a national road show to raise public sector awareness of state aid.
EEDA, in its role as the regional development agency for the East of England works with a wide range of partner organisations to improve the economy in our region through addressing key economic issues like innovation, business competitiveness, transport and growth. One of the areas we have to wrestle with is that of State Aid, which is a complex area.
To assist other public bodies in the region, EEDA is holding a state aid awareness event on the 26 February 2009, hosted by Mills and Reeve solicitors.
The State Aid Branch of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) will present the briefing, which will include the following:
- general State Aid principles and the new General Block Exemption Regulation
- services of General Economic Interest
- aid and regeneration projects
- update on the latest developments in response to the crisis in the financial markets.
EEDA is inviting colleagues from local authorities, strategic partners and the region’s universities and other public bodies to attend the briefing. The briefing may be of interest to you not only when you work with EEDA but also when you deal with grant funding in other capacities.
