Work-limiting illness
Long-term health problems are a major reason why some people are unable to participate in the economy. In the East of England, only 57% of people with some form of disability are in employment, compared to 81% of those who are not disabled.
During 2008, EEDA ran a learning network to capture the experiences of partners across the region who are working to help people with a long-term illness or disability into employment. The process higlighted examples of good practice and raised a number of issues and challenges to be addressed.
The network was launched in 2008 at an event where partners identified three priority issues: client engagement, employer engagement, and joined up working and commissioning. See below to download the presentations.
