The East of England - accelerating low carbon innovation
Innovation is an area in which the East of England excels; this status is reflected in our regional identity - we are the ideas region and are at the forefront of the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy.
According to nine different key measures of innovative activity, the East of England performs better than any other region in the UK, attracting more than a quarter of the UK’s private-sector investment in research and development (R&D).
The East of England has the full range of R&D capabilities, ranging from world-leading corporates, academic and research excellence, low carbon investors and knowledge-based high-tech small and medium sized enterprises, to many technology consultancies.
EEDA has a range of products and programmes designed to nurture and stimulate innovation in the region. The East of England Low Carbon Innovation Programme is being developed to create an environment where businesses and institutions thrive through investing in R&D in low carbon technologies. Projects are being developed in the following sub sectors.
