The East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership

The East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership (EESCP) facilitates closer collaboration and more cohesion between the public, private and voluntary sector organisations responsible for increasing skills, employment and economic growth in the East of England.

With an active role on the EESCP board, EEDA also provides the practical support to ensure the efficient implementation of employment and skills policy throughout the East of England.

The partnership unites senior representatives from over 50 organisations including: regional agencies, the business sector, learning providers, local authorities, the voluntary sector and community interests.

Via EESCP, these organisations are working together to direct, resource and implement skills and employment policy seamlessly, effectively and efficiently. The common aim is to create a regional economy that is more competitive, productive and inclusive. Our scope includes 14-19 provision, adult skills, business support and welfare to work.

Skills development is a core priority of the 2008-2031 regional economic strategy, so EESCP strategy is aligned to four fundamental goals:

  • increase demand for and supply of higher-level skills
  • create a culture where people aspire to train and learn throughout life
  • provide clear progression pathways for learning that improves business performance
  • provide education and training that meets the needs of individuals, employers and the economy.

Partnership activity is coordinated by the EESCP Secretariat, a small team that facilitates the EESCP Board, the Executive Commissioning Group and the Implementation Group. The Secretariat also leads several work programmes; promotes consultation; and hosts periodic events and briefings to bring a regional focus to specific skills challenges. You can view an overview of the EESCP partnership here.

Visit EESCP's essential "What Next? A guide for 17-18 year olds": intended to signpost this age group for the challenging choices they have to make in a difficult climate.

EESCP ran a series of four sub-regional workshops following feedback from the recent Skills Partnership Summit.
