Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications

EEDA is taking a lead in adapting to new government policy. This involves developing fresh ways to work with partners to ensure:

• strategic regional policy is managed correctly
• local programmes are delivered properly.

The Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications programme serves to heighten the importance of effective communications between EEDA and its stakeholders.

Why is the Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications programme needed?

The role of EEDA is changing in response to government policy which will require new kinds of partnership working with local and regional authorities. EEDA is taking on new responsibilities and a new programme is needed to clarify the new role of EEDA to associated stakeholders.

How will the programme be delivered?

The programme will be delivered through clear and regular communication. This is vital in ensuring that EEDA's role and delivery programmes are understood and supported by their stakeholders. This will involve:

• stakeholder management and partnership support
  • improving business stakeholder relationship management
  • providing clear investment plans for sub-regions
  • delivering efficient sub-regional partnership arrangements
• central government and local council liaison
  • ensuring all government parties are aware of issues facing the East of England.
• Regional Partnership Group
  • bringing councillors and government executives together to consider how to work together more effectively for the benefit of the East of England.

EEDA's objective

EEDA's objective is to:

• develop a successful partnership development and delegation plan to help implement the new government policy changes
• support local authority capacity building
• act as an advocate for the region and Greater South East at national and international level.

What will the programme achieve?

The Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications programme will:

• clearly communicate EEDA's role to stakeholders
• allow for easy implementation of new government policy
• enhance the effectiveness of EEDA's partnership network
• increase EEDA's influence on national policy development
• strengthen private sector engagement in regional and sub-regional economic policy and investment.
