Early-stage funding and support from EEDA has helped Cambridge-based Blue Gnome into Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50 as the fastest growing biotechnology company in Cambridgeshire.

Blue Gnome provides industry-leading technology for genetic diagnosis. Key application areas include postnatal diagnosis of intellectual disability and improvement of IVF success rates.

A spin-out of Cambridge University, Blue Gnome received £120,000 from EEDA in 2001 to validate their technology and the commercial theory behind their statistical software ideas.

Now, Blue Gnome supplies 200 customers, in 30 countries worldwide, boasting a turnover of £5 million and employing a highly-skilled workforce of 22 at their recently-expanded headquarters in Cambridge.

Nick Haan, CEO of Blue Gnome, said:

“Without EEDA’s help we quite simply wouldn’t be where we are today. The funding and support came at just the right time.”
