Like me, you may be finding that you are increasingly often hearing the acronym BSSP on the lips of colleagues and stakeholders. The acronym stands for Business Support Simplification Programme, in case you didn't know. It represents an extremely ambitious initiative by the Government to restrict the type of publicly funded services for businesses. As a consultant working on economic development and regeneration, it seems to me that BSSP is having an impact on most of the projects with which I'm involved.
I think this impact is only going to increase as two of the first new products are released in the next few weeks. These are Local Community Business Coaches and Intensive Start-Up Support. Both are aimed at encouraging more start-ups in communities that are under-represented as business owners. The programme will change the way funds from Europe, RDAs, local authorities, LSC etc can be spent.
If you want to know about BSSP, visit our Reources pages, and in particular you can read my attempt to demystify the BSSP.
