Accessibility

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) has endeavoured to produce this website to the highest standards of accessibility for its users. Specific details are outlined as follows:

Accessibility guidelines: this website meets all (priority 1, 2 and 3) guidelines for WAI WCAG 1.0, with the exception of those guidelines that have since been accepted by accessibility specialists to be more of a hindrance than a help to users with assistive technologies. For further information see the World Wide Web Consortium

Content: all of the key information from the RES is provided in HTML format, as well as pdf, allowing it to be searchable and accessed by users with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and speech browsers.

Text: all text on the site meets required colour contrast levels using testing techniques recommended by the Royal National Institute for the Blind.

Links and PDFs: the website has been constructed such that users may access all links and form fields without the use of a mouse. Wherever links have been used the terminology describes their function and where downloads are necessary, Adobe Acrobat Reader is required. http://access.adobe.com/

Flash: Wherever javascript or flash content is used on the site, alternative html content equivalents are provided for users without these technologies.

Images: Alt tags describing photographs or images with text descriptions are provided throughout the site. Wherever possible, we have used text alternatives to images displayed for those users who employ screen-readers to view web pages.
